All online vendors must register for GST and pay it. This implies that you must obtain a GSTIN even if you simply bring in Rs 1 lakh. In addition, on all eligible sales, you must file monthly reports and pay taxes.

You must specify the items you will be dealing with when applying for GST certification for your firm. HSN codes can be used to determine the exact percentage of GST charged. The GST law varies slightly depending on the state you live in.

Sellers are divided into three following categories on the basis of GST applicability:

Selling goods: sellers who are selling goods are needed to get registered under GST. In simple words, sellers must have GSTIN before registering for starting their e-commerce business.

Only if their sale exceeds the threshold level of 20/10 lakh then such vendors obligated to register and collect GST. If they aren’t registered, they aren’t responsible for GST on any transactions made through an e-commerce operator.

(The government may identify the kinds of services for which an e-commerce operator is obliged to collect and pay GST as if the e-commerce operator were providing the service, according to Section 9(5). All of the provisions will apply to such an e-commerce operator, not to the individuals who offer services via him.)

Selling services mentioned in section 9(5):

Even if their sale exceeds the threshold limit, such vendors are not required to register for GST.

A person who sells products or services through an e-commerce operator is ineligible to register under the composition system. He merely has to register under the standard system.
